Over 20 years adding a human side to technical translations

Tech translations

The IT field is a vast universe of different types of documents and materials that need to be translated with the proper terminology and exact intent to correctly communicate your message to the target audience. Whether it is a presentation, a user guide, a technical manual. or a product brochure, your translation will be accurate, with a clear language, and the exact technical terms.

Translation is the process of transferring a text into another language. Translation has to do with written information and is performed by humans. This type of translation is not a mere transfer of individual terms, but a more complex intellectual process, where the professional translator considers the target audience, the intention, purpose and tone of the text, as well as the register among other details.

Localización

Localization

Localizing an app, software, or website is an adaptation task that involves various cultural aspects—not just the right terminology, but also factors like the target audience, and the geographic, historical, and cultural context of each country or region. This process can start even before the translation itself, or it can be applied to an already translated content.

Localization is the process of adapting content to a specific market or region. This includes idioms, colloquial language and cultural references, for example, which system is used for measurements, temperature, and distance.

MTPE

Machine Translation Post-Editing, or MTPE/PEMT, is a service in which a human translator reviews and edits a machine-translated text. One of the main advantages of this process is the reduced turnaround time—provided that the machine translation is reliable and of good quality, such as an engine trained specifically for your industry.

Since the main advantage of MTPE is reduced turnaround time, the ideal context for its use is in non-critical content that does not contain confidential information.

Post-editing is generally divided into two types, depending on the level of editing applied to the text:

  • Light post-editing: In this case, the entire text is reviewed to ensure the intended message is clear, but major changes to grammar structures or terminology are avoided if the text is understandable.

  • Full post-editing: This level of editing not only ensures that the message is accurately conveyed to the audience, but also involves additional changes to improve the text’s fluency and naturalness in the target language.

Examples:

EN:Please let us know if you have any comments. [source text]
ES:Por favor, haznos saber si tienes algún comentario. [machine translation]
ES:No dudes en enviarnos tus comentarios. [full post-editing]

Quality Assurance

Quality assurance is a key part of any translation process. Quality checks begin even before the actual translation starts, and this involves applying all the reference materials provided by the client—glossaries, terminology, style guides, and other resources—as well as our own specialized materials to the translated text. This approach ensures accuracy and consistency with linguistic standards.

Once the translation phase is complete, a second round of quality control is carried out to verify that all these materials were correctly applied, along with the usual syntax, grammar, and punctuation checks.

A third step that can also be part of the quality assurance process involves checking the document’s formatting, including margins, spacing, and fonts.
